Titans' Michael Griffin undergoes surgery on torn labrum

Tennessee Titans safety Michael Griffin underwent surgery Tuesday to repair a torn labrum suffered in a Nov. 23 game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Despite the injury, Griffin missed just nine defensive snaps on the season, accumulating 112 tackles, three sacks and two interceptions.

This is not the first time Griffin has had surgery on a torn labrum.

"Before I had the same surgery and I tore my labrum again, it was just a freak accident the way I fell,'' Griffin told Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean. "So when they went in this time, they saw I'd ripped some of the anchors I already had in there. They added six more to it to make it more stable.

Griffin speculated his recovery will take four to six months, so he doesn't appear to be in jeopardy of missing training camp.

The 30-year-old represents an $8.1-million cap hit, and the Titans could part ways with him if they feel he's not a sound investment health-wise.
