Report: Harbaugh flips, leans towards Michigan return

Michigan's wait in hiring its next head coach might be worth it.

With the NFL season coming to an end, talk of San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh returning to the college ranks is heating up, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter

"The pendulum has shifted to Michigan and (Harbaugh) going back to college," said Schefter on NFL Insiders on Monday.

The Wolverines have remained fairly mum in their search for a new head coach after Brady Hoke was fired on Dec. 2.

After news emerged that the 49ers are expected to release Harbaugh at the conclusion of the season, he was asked about a potential Michigan offer on Monday.

"As you know, I've not participated in any of the speculation, the unnamed sources, the rumors," he said. "What will happen will happen, and what won't, won't."
