Cowboys confident DeMarco Murray will play Sunday vs. Colts

James Lang-USA TODAY Sports

The status of Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray remains up in the air, but there appears to be an expectation around the team that he'll suit up for Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Murray's teammates are confident he'll play, and owner Jerry Jones has indicated that things are indeed heading in that direction, according to ESPN's Ed Werder.

Even so, Murray will likely wait until Sunday morning before making his final decision, taking into consideration pain tolerance and his ability to perform as needed after undergoing hand surgery early in the week.

"I have to do the right thing for myself, the right thing for the team," he said.

The 26-year-old is the NFL's leading rusher with 1,687 yards and 11 touchdowns through 14 games. His availability will be key for the Cowboys' chances of coming away with a win and holding onto their one-game NFC East lead.
