1990 - Bo Jackson becomes first two-sport All-Star

Los Angeles Raiders running back Bo Jackson is selected to the Pro Bowl as a reserve, becoming the first athlete to be chosen for All-Star teams in two major North American sports.

However, Jackson - the MVP of the 1989 MLB All-Star Game - never makes it to the Pro Bowl, as he suffers a season-ending hip injury while being tackled during the Raiders' playoff victory over the Cincinnati Bengals on Jan. 13, 1991.

Jackson finishes the 1990 season - his last in the NFL - with 698 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 125 carries.

2012 - New scoreboards approved for Reliant Stadium

The Harris County Sports & Convention Corporation approves the purchase of two new scoreboards at Reliant Stadium, making them the largest in-stadium high-definition video displays in Texas and the widest in professional sports.

The scoreboards will feature 14,549 square feet of display surface and weigh in at more than 100 tons each.

Houston Texans president Jamey Rootes says he hopes the boards will help the stadium's chances of hosting the Super Bowl in 2017.

"An integral component is the Super Bowl bid," he says. "Their question is, 'What is the experience going to be like? The game experience for the fans when they're there for the Super Bowl?' When you show that picture and it is the largest stadium installation, 25 percent larger than what they've seen before, you can't help but think that will be exciting for the fans."
