NFC East Notebook: Murray practicing; Maclin defends receiving corps

Every Monday and Friday, theScore's NFL editors will bring you a roundup of everything you need to know from around the division with the NFC East Notebook.

Dallas Cowboys

DeMarco Murray practices the week after hand surgery. After practicing with a protective shield on his surgically-repaired hand on Wednesday and Thursday, it appears the Pro Bowl running back will try to play Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.

Melton has been virtually invisible. Henry Melton, a 2012 Pro Bowler who missed much of the 2013 campaign with a torn ACL, has been a complete non-factor this season. His production has cratered dramatically over the past four games, mustering one tackle and two pass deflections while playing 108 snaps.

Is Romo having his best season? Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones said this season could be Tony Romo's best.

“It has the potential to be his best season,” Jones told The Star-Telegram. “The factor that would impact the most in my mind would be if we do have the kind of season that we’re all dreaming about here, then it would be his best.”

Philadelphia Eagles

Foles participates in individual drills. Quarterback Nick Foles participated in individual drills this week. Foles has already been ruled out of Saturday's game against the Washington Redskins, and at this point his broken collarbone isn't completely healed.

McCoy fine with Polk poaching touchdowns. LeSean McCoy says he's comfortable with the Eagles turning to the bigger, more powerful Chris Polk in goal-line situations.

Maclin defends receiving corps on social media. In an attempt to eliminate haters, Jeremy Maclin posted a infographic on Instagram showing off the Eagles wide receiving corps' surprisingly good numbers.

New York Giants

Rolle wants three more years. Thirty-two-year-old safety Antrel Rolle is hoping to squeeze at least three more years out of his career, ideally with the Giants.

"Yeah. This is a great fit," Rolle told NJ.com. "Like I said, next year when we get all our guys healthy and everyone can gel and get on the same page at the same time, I think it's going to be wonderful to be honest with you. But that is not my call to make. That is not my call to make. I'd love to finish my career here."

Beckham Jr. cares not for your fantasy football team. Despite being a fantasy owners dream, rookie phenom wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. doesn't have time for, or care about, fantasy football.

“I don’t play football to play for someone’s fantasy team,” Beckham told The New York Daily News.

Pierre-Paul unconcerned with sack numbers. With 9.5 sacks through 14 games, defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul is close to cracking double digits for only the second time in his career. Despite his second-half surge during a contract year, Pierre-Paul isn't too concerned with his sack totals.

Washington Redskins

Gruden's twisted words. Head coach Jay Gruden feels that every time he says something about Robert Griffin III, his words are immediately twisted by the media.

"Redskins" is not profane, according to the FCC. The Federal Communications Commission ruled that a radio station's repeated use of the word "Redskins" doesn't violate rules against indecent content.

Awful offensive line. The Redskins offensive line has been putrid this season, allowing the second most sacks in the league (53). The Philadelphia Eagles - the Redskins' opponent this weekend - has the second most sacks in the NFL (47).

This could be a recipe for disaster.
