Seahawks' Richard Sherman calls 49ers fans 'mediocre'

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman had a big night Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers, setting up the game's only touchdown and notching two interceptions. Few 49ers fans stuck around to watch him celebrate his second pick, though.

The mass exodus didn't go unnoticed by Sherman.

"I waved goodbye," Sherman said, according to Steve Corkran of the San Jose Mercury News.

When asked if anything about the Seahawks' dominating 19-3 victory was mediocre, Sherman replied, "Their fans."

"Their fans threw a few jabs. Somebody threw a glass bottle at the end. You don't have to resort to name-calling and some of the things they said," Sherman said. "It really just helps you appreciate your own fans, appreciate the 12th Man and how classy of an organization we have, how classy our fans are and how they stay through the whole game, regardless of the outcome. That's huge. But not every fan can be a great 12th Man."

The win keeps the Seahawks alive in the NFC West playoff race, while the 49ers are now in danger of missing the postseason.

"He's a game-changer," Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett said of Sherman. "He's the highest-paid cornerback for a reason."
