Brate was promoted to the Buccaneers' active roster Tuesday, Roy Cummings of the Tampa Tribune reports.

Analysis:

Brate will serve as tight end depth in case starter Austin Seferian-Jenkins (back) is unable to suit up in Week 13. The rookie out of Harvard will face stiff competition for offensive snaps, as Tampa Bay also signed free agent D.J. Williams on Tuesday, and still has Brandon Myers and Luke Stocker on the active roster.
