Jerry Jones: Bye week 'really beneficial' for Romo

A relaxing bye week did wonders for Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo's ailing back, according to owner and general manager Jerry Jones.

“I think it’s really beneficial, and (Romo) knows how to use it,” Jones said on 105.3 The Fan as relayed by Jon Machota of The Dallas Morning News. “I think by the time we kickoff Sunday he will have maximized this break for himself and for us. I was really pleased he had the outing he had in London. It certainly showed that with a couple more weeks of just simple letting it rest, if no other thing, then he’ll be in better shape in that particular area of his back.”

Romo, who suffered two fractures in his back during a Week 8 loss to the Washington Redskins, only sat out one game before returning to lead the Cowboys' to victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley Stadium on Nov. 9.

In nine games this season, the three-time Pro Bowler has completed 185-of-269 passes for 2,244 yards, 18 touchdowns and six interceptions.
