Dallas Cowboys linebacker Bruce Carter suffered a broken ring finger at Thursday's practice session, according to the team's official website.

Already down fellow linebacker Justin Durant, the Carter news came as a scare to the team, but after getting X-rays on the finger, Carter said he expects to play in Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals.

“I’ll be fine. They’re just going to use kind of like this splint I have now,” Carter said. “Wrap it up and I should be fine. I don’t want no big club. I have to be able to get the interceptions. I always try to stay away from those.”

Carter suffered the injury while trying to cover running back Lance Dunbar at practice.

“I guess my finger got caught in his pads,” Carter said. “I ran off and I was kind of just settling and then I don’t know and I had this pinch in my finger and I opened it up and my finger was broke I guess.”

Carter returned to the team's lineup on Monday night against the Redskins after missing three games with a quad injury.
