Johnny Manziel to attend Cavaliers' home opener to support pal LeBron James

Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel is making a habit of watching major sports games this year. In fact, he watched from the sideline as Browns starter Brian Hoyer led the team to a 3-3 record.

Manziel will also watch the Cleveland Cavaliers' home opener Thursday against the New York Knicks. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports Manziel wants to be there in person to support his friend LeBron James.

James was a guest at Browns training camp this summer.

Manziel and James share some of the same marketing agents, and the Browns rookie says he closely observes how James lives his life, hoping to pick up pointers for how he should live his own.

Though Manziel's partying made headlines in the preseason, he's largely remained out of the spotlight since the summer.

"There's been enough drama around me and my life for a couple of years now," Manziel said. "For me, I know whenever camp was over, when we got into the roles of who was going to play what role, Brian was named the starter, I was named the backup.

"Now I need to play my role of being the backup and that's that."

If Manziel truly looks to James for inspiration in his life, he won't be content remaining the backup forever.
