Court rejects Darren Sharper's workers' comp claim against Saints

A state appeals court ruled against former NFL safety Darren Sharper on Friday in his bid to receive workers' compensation from the New Orleans Saints, Jim Mustian of the New Orleans Advocate reports.

Sharper, who spent two seasons with the Saints, was seeking more than $95,000 from his former employer because of a November 2009 knee injury he says shortened his career.

Sharper announced his retirement from the NFL in 2011. He remains behind bars in Los Angeles on charges that he drugged and raped two women he met at a West Hollywood nightclub in October 2013.
