Report: Titans plan to start rookie Zach Mettenberger vs. Texans

The Tennessee Titans are expected to start rookie quarterback Zach Mettenberger on Sunday against the Houston Texans, according to Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean

Mettenberger was a 2014 sixth-round pick, but likely would have gone earlier if he didn't suffer a torn ACL in his final season at LSU. He appeared late in the Titans blowout loss to the Indianapolis Colts this season, going just 2-for-5 for 17 yards.

Charlie Whitehurst has sputtered in relief of the injured Jake Locker, so head coach Ken Whisenhunt will be hoping Mettenberger can provide a spark.

If Mettenberger can step in and perform well, it could signal the end of Locker's time with the Titans.
