NFC South Notebook: A closer look at Kuechly's ejection; Saints' road woes continue

Carolina Panthers

Dismal NFC South a boon for Panthers. Following Sunday's 38-17 loss to the Green Bay Packers, defensive tackle Colin Cole reflected on his 2010 season with the Seattle Seahawks, who won the NFC West with a 7-9 record. If NFC South teams continues to struggle, the Panthers may find themselves in a similar situation.

A closer look at Kuechly's ejection. Bryan Strickland of Panthers.com says Luke Kuechly was ejected from Sunday's game because of how he and an official reacted during an emotionally-charged situation.

Defense isn't the only concern. Sunday's loss had as much to do with the Panthers' offense as it did their defense, writes Scott Fowler of the Charlotte Observer.

New Orleans Saints

Saints' road woes continue. The Saints fell to 2-4 on Sunday with a crushing 24-23 loss to the Detroit Lions at Ford Field. They are the lone team in the NFL that is undefeated at home but has yet to win on the road.

Brees takes the blame. Drew Brees said he let the Saints down with the interception he threw in the final minutes of Sunday's game.

Payton upset with officiating. Head coach Sean Payton said he wasn't happy with the way Sunday's game was officiated. 

Atlanta Falcons

Falcons regressing as season goes on. D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution points to injuries, penalties and an ineffective offensive line as the reasons behind the Falcons' regression.

White reaches another milestone. Roddy White caught the 58th touchdown pass of his career Sunday, setting a new franchise record.

Konz leaves stadium on crutches. Peter Konz was spotted on crutches after leaving Sunday's game in the first half with a knee injury.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Buccaneers reportedly open to trading Vincent Jackson. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Sunday that Jackson has emerged as a possible trade target.

Lovie Smith confident Bucs can turn things around. Smith said the Bucs' situation is a lot like a team that is trailing by a few points early in the game
