Bucs' Jorvorskie Lane cites weight-loss medication as cause of PED suspension
Tampa Bay Buccaneers fullback Jorvorskie Lane was suspended two games for a PED violation on Wednesday and he is claiming it was the result of the weight-loss medication he took.
Lane released a statement describing what happened:
“For those unaware of my back story, I was out of the NFL last season due to my weight, which is an issue that I have battled with for many years. I purchased an over-the-counter medication to help my weight-loss efforts and, without my knowledge, it contained a banned substance."
Buccaneers head coach Lovie Smith showed his support for Lane.
“How much more can I say?’’ said Smith. “He made a mistake and when you make mistakes, there’s a punishment that comes along with it. He’ll serve his two-game suspension and his team will be here then.’’
