Report: Calvin Johnson frustrated with role, wanted to let ankle heal

Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson is reportedly frustrated after playing the last two games on a bad ankle.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Johnson would have rather let his ankle heal than be used as a decoy in the Lions' offense.

"Players always want to play. You know he is a gamer," Rapoport said. "But he wants to make sure he gets this ankle healed for the long haul."

The strategy appears to be working in part, though, with No. 2 receiver Golden Tate taking advantage in the last two games. He has 15 catches for 250 yards and a touchdown with Johnson banged up.
