Redskins' Trent Williams: 'It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that we need to step up'

Trent Williams isn't intimidated by the defending Super Bowl champions.

The outspoken right tackle is confident in his team's ability to play spoiler when the Washington Redskins face the Seattle Seahawks under the bright lights on "Monday Night Football" on Oct. 6.

“Can we beat them? Yeah,” Williams told The Washington Post. “At the end of the day, they’re not robots. They’re human beings and nobody’s perfect. Nobody plays perfect every Sunday. They have been beaten before. It’s not like they’re unstoppable. They’re a great team, no doubt about it, but anything is possible in the NFL.”

Following a nip-and-tuck loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3, the Redskins were embarrassed 45-14 by the New York Giants the following Thursday, dropping their record to 1-3.

“It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that we need to step up,” Williams said. “We’re going against one of the best teams in the NFL right now on Monday night. I think guys are going to come with their best effort, and hopefully we’ll turn this thing around.”
