Redskins' Moss: 'I'm not here to be collecting a free check'

Geoff Burke / USA TODAY Sports

Washington Redskins receiver Santana Moss has yet to be activated for a game this season, and as expected, he's less than thrilled about it.

“Honestly, man, it hurts. It does,” Moss told 106.7 The Fan. “I’m not sure if it hurts more because I know these years count so much to me, or it’s just me knowing that I put so much in to be ready."

Moss is in his 14th season and has over 700 career catches, but with Pierre Garcon, DeSean Jackson, and Andre Roberts on the roster, there are only so many targets to go around.

"I know where I fit, because when in doubt, if you ever need me - if something goes wrong - I’m there. But at this moment now, if those guys healthy and those guys out there making the plays they make, why dress me just to sit around and watch that go on."

Still, that doesn't mean Moss wants his career to end with him on the sideline.

“But the fact of me not playing, I would never be satisfied with it because I’m not here to be collecting a free check like that."
