Chip Kelly: McCoy's slow start not injury-related

Bob Stanton / USA TODAY Sports

Running back LeSean McCoy's slow start to the season isn't injury-related, according to Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly.

McCoy, the NFL's leading rusher last season, has struggled to find a rhythm in 2014, rushing for 192 yards on 70 carries over the first four games.

The Pro Bowler's start has been so ugly many are speculating his performance could be related to the turf toe he suffered through during the preseason.

“No,” Kelly said (via ESPN). “Not that I’m aware of.”

At this point neither Kelly or McCoy is using a possible injury as an excuse for the running back's lack of production.

“He’s not on the treatment list,” Kelly said. “He does normal maintenance like everybody else, but he hasn't had any injuries where we've done anything with him.”
