Claiborne suffered a ruptured patellar tendon in his left knee during Sunday's game against the Saints and will now miss the remainder of this season, The Dallas Morning News reports.

Analysis:

Claiborne's injury was confirmed by an MRI on Monday and completes a tumultuous week for the former first-round pick. Prior to Sunday's game, he was demoted to the Cowboys' No. 3 cornerback, which caused him to skip last Tuesday's practice session while disappointed. Now, Claiborne will be sidelined for the rest of this season, which will limit him to just 14 games played over the past two years. As a result, Sterling Moore is expected to serve as the Cowboys' nickel cornerback moving forward.
