Every Sunday, theScore brings you the biggest and most interesting stories as they happen. Check back throughout the day for important updates on everything you need to know.

Steve Smith proves Panthers wrong

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Steve Smith has had this date circled on his calendar for quite some time.

Facing the Carolina Panthers, his former team, on Sunday, he didn't disappoint. Smith's 139 yards on seven catches and two touchdowns led the Ravens to a 38-10 victory.

One of those catches, which can be seen below, was a ridiculous 61-yard touchdown grab off a deflection.

The Teddy Bridgewater era is underway

Teddy Bridgewater made his first career start today for the Minnesota Vikings, but he already looks like a seasoned veteran.

The pivot finished 19-of-30 for 317 yards and he also ran for a touchdown in a 41-28 victory over the Atlanta Falcons.

It wasn't all good news, though, as Bridgewater left late with an ankle injury. Minnesota has a quick turnaround with a Thursday matchup against the Green Bay Packers, so keep an eye on his status throughout the week.

49ers overcome Vernon Davis injury to top Eagles

The San Francisco 49ers overcame the loss of Vernon Davis to move to 2-2 with a 26-21 win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

Davis left with a back injury after catching two passes for eight yards.

It was a much-needed win for the 49ers, who risked falling well behind the pack in the NFC West if they suffered a third consecutive loss.

The loss means the Eagles are no longer undefeated. The Philadelphia offense never got on track: the group didn't score a touchdown Sunday and their 21 points came via the defense and special teams.

Glennon leads Bucs to comeback win over Steelers

After getting decimated on Thursday Night Football last week, the last thing anyone expected the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to do was walk into Pittsburgh and defeat the Steelers on Sunday. But that's exactly what happened.

Down seven in the fourth quarter, Mike Glennon, playing for the injured Josh McCown, led the Buccaneers back. The winning score came on a furious final-minute drive without any timeouts, culminating in a Vincent Jackson five-yard touchdown catch that gave the Bucs a 27-24 win.

Glennon finished with more than 300 yards and two touchdowns, which makes you wonder: why wasn't he starting from the get-go?

Derek Carr leaves with ankle and knee injuries

Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr left Sunday's game versus the Miami Dolphins with injuries to his ankle and knee.

Matt McGloin came in at quarterback, but it didn't make any difference as the Dolphins trounced the Raiders 38-14.

The Raiders have a bye next week and Carr believes he will be ready to go when they take on the San Diego Chargers in Week 6.

Megatron plays sparingly vs. Jets

Despite not practicing Wednesday and Thursday because of an ankle injury, Calvin Johnson was active Sunday against the New York Jets. But you wouldn't know it based on his production.

Johnson played limited snaps, and wasn't targeted in the first quarter. He finished with two catches for 12 yards on the day as the Lions posted a 24-17 win.

The All-Pro's ankle injury seems to be more than minor, and that's something fantasy owners don't want to hear.

Bears' defense misses Jared Allen in loss to Packers

The illness that forced Jared Allen to sit out practice this week has a diagnosis.

It was a big loss for the Chicago Bears, who couldn't put any distance between themselves and the Green Bay Packers in the NFC North after being blown out at Soldier Field.

The Packers rolled to a 38-17 win as Aaron Rodgers threw for more than 300 yards and four touchdowns, with no sign of any pass rush from the Bears. Green Bay didn't punt all day and their only drive that ended end in points came from a missed field goal.

Jaguars get first rushing touchdown since November 2013

The Jacksonville Jaguars finally scored a rushing touchdown after closing in on a calendar year without one.

See, the Toby Gerhart signing was definitely worth it.

Andre Johnson fumbles for 1st time in 82 games

Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson did something Sunday against the Buffalo Bills that he hadn't done in quite some time: lost the football.

The fumble was Johnson's first in 82 games, but all good things must come to an end.

Johnson suffered an injury scare in the contest regarding his ankle, but thankfully for the Texans he appears to be fine
