Packers' Mike McCarthy says Eddie Lacy 'needs to play better'

Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy hasn't played anywhere near the level he displayed as a rookie last year and head coach Mike McCarthy wasn't shy about letting everyone know it Monday.

“Eddie needs to play better,” McCarthy said via the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “I’m not going to do this anymore. I don’t correct individuals in the media. We’ve seen the film, corrections have been made, our running game wasn’t nearly what it needed to be. Not even close.”

Lacy ran for nearly 1,200 yards in 2013, but has managed just 113 in three games so far this year. Even worse, he's averaging barely three yards a carry.

His struggles couldn't come at a worse time, as quarterback Aaron Rodgers has not played up to his standards so far this season either. Rodgers has thrown for less than 200 yards in two of the the Packers three games, both of which ended in defeat.
