In a game that was far more competitive than February's 43-8 thrashing, the Seattle Seahawks needed overtime to upend the Denver Broncos on Sunday, this time by a final score of 26-20.
Here's what you need to know...
- Similar to the opening of Super Bowl XLVIII, the Broncos' first play from scrimmage resulted in a fumble, as running back Montee Ball coughed up the ball after a nine-yard carry. Seahawks linebacker K.J. Wright recovered the fumble.
- The Broncos tied the game at 20 late in the fourth quarter on a six-play, 80-yard drive that was capped off with a 26-yard touchdown strike to Jacob Tamme, then a two-point conversion to Demaryius Thomas. The drive spanned all of 41 seconds.
- The Broncos' win probability had dropped below two percent prior to that drive.
- The Seahawks followed that up with a 13-play, 80-yard drive in overtime, capped by a game-winning, six-yard touchdown plunge by Marshawn Lynch.
- After setting a Super Bowl record with 13 receptions in the Super Bowl matchup with the Seahawks back in February, Demaryius Thomas was limited to 31 yards on four receptions Sunday.
- In his first game back from suspension, Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker caught six passes for 60 yards.
- Broncos tight end Julius Thomas hauled in his league-leading fifth touchdown catch of the season.
- Broncos wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders caught 11 passes for 149 yards.
