Eagles edge Redskins in wild shoot out in Philly

Jeffrey J. Pittinger / USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins combined for over 750 passing yards, 201 penalty yards, and 71 points in arguably the most entertaining early game of Week 3. Eagles kicker Cody Parkey's 51-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter was the difference Sunday, as Philadelphia improved to a perfect 3-0 this season with a 37-34 win over Washington.

Here's what you need to know...

  • Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson returned to Philadelphia for the first time since joining Washington as a free agent during the offseason, catching five passes for 138 yards and his first touchdown of the year. There was this troll job, too.
  • A viscous hit on Eagles quarterback Nick Foles resulted in a sideline brawl and two ejections late in the fourth with the game tied at 27. Foles finished with 28-for-42 passing, 325 yards and three touchdowns.
  • The Eagles appeared on the verge of losing running back LeSean McCoy early on in the contest with an apparent head injury. He returned to the game but managed just 22 yards on 20 carries.
  • The loss was especially costly for the Redskins, who also learned after the game that cornerback DeAngelo Hall reportedly tore his Achilles.
  • Eagles wideout Jeremy Maclin was among the big offensive performers of the afternoon, racking up a career-high 154 receiving yards on eight catches with a touchdown.
  • Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins put together a second strong outing in Robert Griffin III's absence, completing 30 of his 48 passes for a career-high 427 yards. He threw three touchdowns and one interception.
