The Dallas Cowboys looked to be in trouble after trailing the St. Louis Rams 21-0 halfway through the second quarter, but an impressive showing from then on saw them tie the franchise record for the biggest comeback, as they pulled out an exciting 34-31 road win.

Here's what you need to know . . .

  • Quarterback Tony Romo's 217 yards and two touchdowns won't stand out among the best stats of his career, but his efficient play, completing 18-of-23 passes, played a big role in orchestrating the Cowboys' comeback.

  • Continuing his string of success in matchups with the Rams, running back DeMarco Murray carried the ball 24 times for 100 yards and one touchdown.

  • The Cowboys would take their first lead of the game with a 12-yard touchdown pass from Romo to Terrance Williams late in the fourth quarter, and the game would be put out of reach when linebacker Bruce Carter scored an interception return for a touchdown on the ensuing Rams drive.

  • The Rams had taken their early lead courtesy of two Austin Davis touchdown passes and, with another late strike, the second-year quarterback would finish with a career-high three touchdowns and 327 passing yards.

  • Without a sack in Sunday's game, the Rams' defense now has just one quarterback takedown through the first three weeks of the season, making what was thought to be a strength of the team a glaring concern.

  • Tempers flared on the Rams' sideline after tight end Jared Cook dropped a touchdown that could have helped to hold off the Cowboys' comeback.
