In a game that featured far less scoring than many would have expected, the Detroit Lions came away with a key 19-7 divisional win over the Green Bay Packers that, for the time being, gives them an early NFC North Division lead.

Here's what you need to know . . .

  • The story of this game, without a doubt, was the Lions holding Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers to just 162 yards passing completing 16-of-27 attempts.

  • Despite facing a thin Lions defense, the Packers' receivers struggled to create separation in coverage throughout the game and running back Eddie Lacy had little to work with on the ground as well, totaling just 36 yards on 11 carries to go along with an early fumble.

  • The Lions offense had a tough game as well, but converting 11 of 18 third downs allowed them to move the chains and keep the Packers' defense on the field.

  • While quarterback Matthew Stafford had his share of struggles, throwing two first-quarter interceptions and taking a third-quarter sack fumble deep in Packers' territory, his efforts and that of the offense overall were more than enough.

  • Packers star pash rusher Clay Matthews was forced to the sidelines with a groin injury late in the game and did not return.

  • Lions linebacker Stephen Tulloch left the game in the second quarter with a knee injury suffered after he celebrated a sack and was also unable to return.
