Report: Referees claim 49ers' Kaepernick said N-word last week

Officials are alleging San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick used the N-word during last week's loss to the Chicago Bears, according to a report from Fox Sports' Jay Glazer.

Kaepernick was fined $11,000 on Wednesday for inappropriate language and said he plans to appeal the decision. Glazer said the 49ers quarterback denies he used the racial slur.

The official who threw the flag, side judge Laird Hayes, maintains Kaepernick crossed the line.

"He knows what he said," Laird told CSNBayArea on Monday. "It was the right call."

Kaepernick drew the penalty during an incident with Bears defensive end Lamarr Houston in the fourth-quarter of last Sunday's game. Houston told the Chicago Tribune that he didn't hear Kaepernick say anything.

"The player I supposedly said something to has been quoted saying I didn’t say anything and I don’t know him," Kaepernick told CSN. "So it’s not like he’d have a reason to just run and stick up for me."
