Report: Buccaneers' McCown has 'significant' sprain

Jason Getz / USA TODAY Sports

Tampa Bay quarterback Josh McCown's injury, suffered in Thursday night's loss to the Atlanta Falcons, is being called a significant sprain, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Currently scheduled to see a hand specialist on Monday, an exact timeline for McCown's return has yet to be determined, but he remains unlikely to play in the Buccaneers' next game Sept. 28 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Until McCown is healthy, second-year quarterback Mike Glennon should continue to start in his place.
