Seahawks' defense trash talks Broncos ahead of Super Bowl rematch

The Seattle Seahawks aren't finished letting the world know they're the defending Super Bowl Champions.

Seattle squares off against the Denver Broncos on Sunday in a rematch of last February's Super Bowl, where the Seahawks routed the Broncos 43-8.

After finishing atop almost every major statistical category last season, the Seahawks' defense is certainly not wonting for confidence ahead of one of Week 3's most-anticipated tilts.

"(The Broncos are) out for a little bit of revenge, and they want to execute better than they did the last time. They don't want to be dominated in front of the entire world like they were before," Seahawks linebacker Malcolm Smith told USA TODAY's Tom Pelissero.

Smith captured Super Bowl MVP honors after returning an interception for a touchdown and recovering a fumble.

Flipping to the other side of the coin, Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett downplayed the notion of Sunday's game being a Super Bowl rematch.

"I'm pretty sure the (Broncos) coaches are going to blow that up as one of the situations. But sometimes, when you do that, you can mess yourself up, trying to win something that's already been won," Bennett said.

In the Super Bowl, the Seahawks imposed their will on the Broncos from the first snap and refused to be hesitant.

"We're not going in there waiting on them to throw the first blow. We're going in there and we're trying to throw the first blow. We are going to throw the first blow," Seahawks linebacker Bruce Irvin said.

Another element Denver surely isn't looking forward to: playing at CenturyLink Field, where Seattle will - as is the norm - be led by a raucous home crowd.
