Report: Lions work out 3 kickers

Don McPeak-USA TODAY Sports / Reuters

With rookie Nate Freese struggling, the Detroit Lions are reportedly mulling the possibility of bringing in a new kicker.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Rob Bironas, Alex Henery and Garrett Hartley all worked out for the Lions recently.

Bironas was released by the Tennessee Titans in March after nine seasons. He is the second-leading scorer in franchise history.

Henery served as the Philadelphia Eagles' starting kicker in 2013, but was beat out by undrafted rookie Cody Parkey this season.

Hartley, a six-year veteran, is best known for his 40-yard kick that sent the New Orleans Saints to Super Bowl XLIV.
