Report: 49ers' Vernon Davis avoids serious ankle injury, could play Sunday

An MRI on Vernon Davis's left ankle revealed no structural damage, CSNBayArea.com reports.
The San Francisco 49ers tight end suffered the injury when his foot was caught under linebacker Jonathan Bostic in the fourth quarter of the team's loss to the Chicago Bears on Sunday. He was unable to return to the game and was spotted on crutches afterwards.
It remains to be seen whether Davis will be able to practice this week, but the report indicates he could return to the field Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals.
