Eagles rally from 14-point deficit to defeat Colts

Darren Sproles led the Philadelphia Eagles back from 14 points down to defeat the Indianapolis Colts 30-27. Sproles caught seven passes for 152 yards, and added 26 yards on the ground.

Cody Parkey kicked a last-second field goal to secure the victory for the Eagles, moving the team atop the NFC East. 

The Colts held a 20-6 lead in the third quarter, but couldn't stop the Eagles' multifaceted attack.

Here's what you need to know : 

  • The story of the game was running back Sproles' performance, particularly in the second half. He was unstoppable in the open field, and his 178 total yards was the difference for the Eagles.
  • Sproles tied the game at 20 with a fantastic 19-yard touchdown run, bouncing to the outside off Darius Butler.
  • Running back LeSean McCoy added 79 yards on 20 rushes, while Eagles quarterback Nick Foles went 21-for-37 for 331 yards, a touchdown and an interception. 
  • Andrew Luck wasn't particularly bad for the Colts, going 20-for-34 for 172 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. Yet on a night where the Colts' defense failed to contain the dynamic Eagles' offense, Luck needed to be spectacular. 
  • Luck lost back-to-back games for the first time in his NFL career.
  • Colts cornerback Greg Toler made a fantastic interception to close out the second half.
  • Colts defensive back Vontae Davis committed a critical pass interference penalty, bringing the Eagles to the one-yard line. Two plays later, LeSean McCoy punched in a touchdown run to cut the Colts' lead to 20-13.
  • On the next drive, Eagles defensive tackle Fletcher Cox forced Colts running back Trent Richardson to fumble. Sproles then scored on the aforementioned 19-yard run.
  • The Colts regained the lead, only for the Eagles to tie the game at 27 on a Jeremy Maclin touchdown catch. Sproles made the key play on the drive with an outstanding 51-yard reception.
  • Indianapolis falls to 0-2 for the second time since 1998.
