AFC South Notebook: Fitzpatrick ascending; players want Bortles; Richardson in doghouse?

Cary Edmondson / USA TODAY Sports

Every Monday and Friday, theScore's NFL editors will bring you a roundup of everything you need to know from around the division with the AFC East Notebook.

Houston Texans

Fitzpatrick behind only Manning in passer rating. Ryan Fitzpatrick's 118.4 passer rating after two games trails only Peyton Manning's as the best in the NFL. Fitzpatrick has completed 68.3 percent of his passes for 345 yards, with three touchdowns and no interceptions.

Foster elite again? The Houston Chronicle says Arian Foster is rushing with the proficiency he showed from 2010-2012, when he was widely considered one of the NFL's best running backs.

Winning the turnover battle. The Houston Chronicle identifies the Texans' plus-5 turnover ratio through two games as one of the primary reasons for the team's success. That ratio last season? Dead last in the NFL at minus-20.

Tennessee Titans

Locker follows strong start with dud. Can Jake Locker be a consistent NFL starter? It looked like it in Week 1, when he was poised and efficient against the Chiefs. A different Locker was on the field Sunday, however. Locker finished the first half with a woeful passer rating of 7.6 and wasn't much better in the second.

Injury update. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt said after the game he thinks cornerback Jason McCourty, who left with a groin injury, "will be OK." Whisenhunt didn't give an update on running back Dexter McCluster's foot injury.

Questionable music? ESPN wonders whether the Titans should play hip-hop songs with "questionable" lyrics before kickoff, especially given the NFL's recent domestic violence incidents.

Jacksonville Jaguars

Do players want Bortles to start? Bleacher Report says the buzz in the Jaguars' locker room hints that players believe it's time for rookie Blake Bortles to start ahead of Chad Henne.

Not a record you want to set. The Jaguars set a team record by allowing 10 sacks Sunday. The previous record for sacks allowed was eight, which the team surrendered twice in 2001.

Too risky to start Bortles? ESPN ponders whether inserting Bortles as the starter is a wise move considering the offensive line's struggles

Indianapolis Colts

Richardson to be demoted? ESPN discusses whether or not running back Trent Richardson is in the doghouse, and if the player the Colts traded a first-round pick for will soon lose his starting job to Ahmad Bradshaw.

Playoff path getting tougher? ESPN notes that the Colts' path to another AFC South title looks tougher than it did before the season, primarily because of the Texans' hot start.

Colts make big charitable donation. In the wake of the Ray Rice scandal, the Colts made a $100,000 donation to a domestic violence charity.
