Report: Ryan Mathews suffers MCL sprain, could miss up to 8 weeks

Matt Kartozian / USA TODAY Sports

Although the San Diego Chargers defeated the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, it's not all good news out of Northern California.

Ryan Mathews suffered an MCL sprain in the game, and may miss anywhere from 2-8 weeks, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune's Michael Gehlken and Kevin Acee.

Mathews left the game in the fourth quarter after rushing for 31 yards on 11 carries.

The fifth-year running back has only played a complete season once in his career, and Chargers fans should expect to see more touches for Danny Woodhead and Donald Brown.
