Six-time Pro Bowl guard Brian Waters announces retirement from NFL

Denny Medley / USA TODAY Sports

After a 13-season career, veteran guard Brian Waters is announcing his retirement from the NFL, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

After a long and wonderful career I have decided to retire. I want to thank the coaches, players and fans of the three great organizations that I had the pleasure of working for. First the Dallas Cowboys for giving me my first and last chance of working in the NFL. I will always be grateful. Also the New England Patriots for the most successful season in my career. It was a great ride. Lastly, the Kansas City Chiefs where I had pleasure of enjoying eleven wonderful seasons, which I will never forget.

A Walter Payton Man of the Year award winner in 2009, Waters started 170 games over the course of his career. His consistently high level of play throughout earned him six trips to the Pro Bowl and two First-Team All-Pro honors, and he'll go down as one of the best offensive linemen of his era.
