Eagles' LeSean McCoy dealing with turf toe: 'You have to learn how to play through pain'

Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy was back at practice on Monday after missing Sunday's session with a mild case of turf toe.

According to the 2013 rushing champion, it really isn't a big deal.

McCoy told the media that an MRI and X-Rays on the toe were negative, and refused to answer questions about why he did not participate in Sunday's practice.

“Anytime I’m not capable of going out there and practicing and missing a day of work, it’s not something to be happy about,” McCoy said, via CSNPhilly.com. “Unless it’s a day off and the team has a day off. Missing a day of work can be frustrating.”

McCoy hopes that the toe won't be a lingering issue that bothers him throughout the season.

“If it hurts too much, I’ll shut it down,” McCoy said. "I warmed up [Monday] and it felt good. I can feel it still, but I pushed through it.

"In this league, you have to learn how to play through pain if you can. And if you can, you have to go out there and work hard…my track record, I don’t miss a lot of games, I don’t miss a lot of practices."

While he noted that he does intend to play in Thursday's preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, he did note that he won't need many reps in the contest.
