Cardinals select safety Deone Bucannon with No. 27 pick

The Arizona Cardinals upgraded their secondary, using the 27th overall pick to select hard-nosed safety Deone Bucannon out of Washington State.

Bucannon took over as a starter early in his freshman year with the Cougars and held down the position for the next four years. He's a prototypical hard-hitting safety that punishes running backs and makes wide receivers cautious when crossing the middle of the field.

As a senior in 2013, Bucannon notched 114 tackles and six interceptions. He was named a First-Team AP All-American.
