The Dallas Cowboys added some sorely needed reinforcement to their offensive line, selecting offensive lineman Zack Martin with the 16th overall pick in the draft.

Quarterback Johnny Manziel was still on the board, but the Cowboys elected to play it safe and address their line.

Martin was a four-year starter at offensive tackle for Notre Dame, appearing in 52 games - a school record. Martin is known as a highly intelligent player and a good leader, and he should become a Day 1 starter for the Cowboys.

Martin drew some criticism in the pre-draft process by analysts who argued he has the body of guard and may not project as a left tackle in the NFL. Though some view his lack of a natural position as a negative, his versatility can just as easily be seen as something to value.

With Tyron Smith already penciled in a left tackle, Martin has the ability to take over either on the right side or move to the interior. Though he played tackle exclusively for the Fighting Irish, Martin's skill set would translate well to guard.
