The New York Jets have automatically given a boost to their secondary by selecting safety Calvin Pryor out of Louisville with the 18th overall pick.

Along with Alabama's Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, Pryor was considered the top safety in this year's draft class. Pryor took over as the Cardinals starting free safety midway through his freshman season in 2011 and held the role for the next two-and-a-half years. He was named First-Team All-AAC in 2013 after recording 75 tackles, three interceptions and two forced fumbles.

Pryor brings a physical presence to the Jets and will make opposing receivers nervous crossing the middle with his big hit ability. He has solid instincts and great athleticism, clocking in a 40-yard dash of 4.58 seconds at the scouting combine.

In three years at Louisville, Pryor totaled 218 tackles, nine forced fumbles and seven interceptions.
