Chris Johnson was released by the Tennessee Titans on Friday, but don't expect the running back to be available for long.

Pro Football Talk is reporting that Johnson is expected to decide on a new team by the middle of next week.

The New York Jets have reportedly shown some interest in Johnson and it would seemingly be a logical fit. He could partner with Chris Ivory in the backfield to give the Jets an explosive option on an offense that desperately needs one. New York also has more than $25 million in cap space still available.

Johnson has been criticized by some for a drop off in production since his 2,000 yard season back in 2009. However, the East Carolina product still hasn't rushed for less than 1,000 yards in a campaign during his first six seasons in the NFL, the longest current streak for a running back.

He's also been surprisingly durable given the position he plays and his small stature. Johnson has missed just one game in his career due to injury.
