Report: Cowboys interested in DE Julius Peppers

The Dallas Cowboys are dipping into defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli's past in their search for defensive line help.

According to multiple reports, the Cowboys are expected to meet with defensive tackle Henry Melton and are eyeing defensive end Julius Peppers, both of whom played for Marinelli in Chicago.

The Cowboys have yet to schedule a visit with Peppers, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports, but are interested if the price is right -- which, presumably, would be less than the three-year, $30-million deal former Cowboy DeMarcus Ware received from the Denver Broncos.

Peppers was released by the Bears on Tuesday largely because of his $13.9 million base salary and $18 million salary cap figure for 2014. The 34-year-old is a proven starter, though, and has not missed a game since the 2007 season.
