Tennessee's O'Brien, ex-Vol Sapp reach deal with state, have criminal charges dropped
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Tennessee defensive lineman Danny O'Brien and ex-Tennessee linebacker Dontavis Sapp will have all charges against them stemming from a Feb. 9 party dropped in six months if they fulfill terms of an agreement reached Thursday.
Sapp's charge of purchasing alcohol for a person underage was dropped Thursday. His charge of resisting arrest will be dismissed in six months if he performs 32 hours of community service, has good conduct, submits to alcohol assessment and pays court costs.
O'Brien must perform 40 hours of community service and otherwise fulfill the same terms as Sapp to have charges of criminal impersonation, resisting arrest and underage consumption of alcohol dropped.
Tennessee linebacker A.J. Johnson also was arrested Feb. 9 on the same charges as Sapp. Johnson has a scheduled court appearance Friday.
