Tomlin: Bell in 'great physical condition'

Concerns about Le'Veon Bell's physical fitness appear to be unfounded.

After failing to land a long-term deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the star running back chose to skip training camp and the preseason, only to return to the team this weekend to sign his franchise tag.

While Bell was away, Steelers staffers, players, and fans were concerned he wouldn't return in football shape.

On Tuesday, head coach Mike Tomlin revealed Bell is in "great physical condition," according to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Tomlin also confirmed Bell will play in Sunday's season opener against the Cleveland Browns, telling reporters he will assess how best to utilize his talent.

Rookie James Conner will take over for Bell when he needs a breather, Bouchette reports.
