Redskins to announce new front office structure Tuesday

After firing their general manager on the first day of the official 2017 NFL year in March, the Washington Redskins will announce their new front office structure Tuesday morning, the team announced, according to Mike Jones of the Washington Post.

It's unclear what the front office will look like, as the team has been rumored to have requested permission not to name a traditional general manager. The Cleveland Browns, Philadelphia Eagles, and Cincinnati Bengals are among teams that have their vice president of football operations make roster moves in lieu of a traditional GM.

Redskins president Bruce Allen said on May 22 that the team was "getting close to having a final plan" to fill their general manager vacancy.

Former GM Scot McCloughan was unceremoniously fired in March after two winning seasons and claimed through a friend that he felt hated by people within the organization, despite reports that "all the players loved" him.

Senior personnel executive and former Super Bowl-winning quarterback Doug Williams has been rumored as a potential GM candidate.

Allen is expected to remain President and possibly gain roster control.
