2017 draft breaks record for most trades in history of event

Jerry Lai / USA TODAY Sports

Through six rounds of picks, the theme of the 2017 NFL Draft has clearly been trades as the event has now seen more deals then any other draft in league history.

According to Brian McCarthy of the NFL, the previous record of 34 trades was shattered by the 37 in this year's event, a total which has since increased to 39.

The wheeling and dealing got started early in the opening round as the Chicago Bears moved up from the third spot to the second slot to draft Mitchell Trubisky.

Two other clubs also moved up in the opening round to take quarterbacks, as the Kansas City Chiefs drafted Patrick Mahomes at No. 10, while the Houston Texans opted to grab Deshaun Watson with the 12th selection.
