Jags GM on Westbrook: 'Many of us have been accused of things'

The Jacksonville Jaguars used their fourth-round pick Saturday to select wideout Dede Westbrook, a player accused on multiple occasions of domestic violence.

In 2012, Westbrook was arrested on the accusation of throwing the mother of two of his children to the ground. A year later, he was arrested again and accused of biting that same woman's arm and punching her in the face.

Those are very serious accusations, obviously, but they didn't necessarily move the needle for Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell.

"I think we all have been accused of things, not all of us, but many of us have been accused of things," Caldwell said after the pick was announced, according to Alfie Crow of Big Cat Country.

Caldwell's point seems to be that Westbrook wasn't convicted of a crime, but a "no harm, no foul" approach to domestic violence doesn't exactly feel tasteful.

Caldwell went on to say the Jaguars view Westbrook's past as a "serious issue," but it's hard to gauge exactly what Caldwell views as serious if he considers all accusations equal.
