Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Picked by Tampa

The Buccaneers selected Godwin in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft, 84th overall.

Analysis:

This is a steal for an offense that already was plenty intimidating. After adding DeSean Jackson in free agency and O.J. Howard in the first round, the Buccaneers get another dangerous pass catcher here in Godwin, whose prospect profile strongly indicates future success as a starter. At 6-foot-1, 209 pounds, Godwin was one of the best Combine performers at wideout, running a 4.42-second 40 while adding a 36-inch vertical and 126-inch broad jump. Godwin has excellent ball skills and wins fights in traffic, so he's not dependent on separation. It's unlikely that Godwin will reach his full form as long as Jackson is in Tampa Bay, but he should eventually emerge as a feared second punch behind lead wideout Mike Evans.
