Johnny Manziel arrived in Cleveland fresh off a Heisman Trophy win and full of promise, but after two seasons marred by off-field issues, the Browns sent him packing.

In an interview with Graham Bensinger, Browns left tackle Joe Thomas shed some light on Manziel's shortcomings and why he didn't succeed as a quarterback in Cleveland.

"I love Johnny, I think he's a great person. He's very friendly, he's a lot of fun," Thomas said. "I think that's probably a big part of his struggles in the NFL, though, is he's got so many friends, he's got so many people that want to be with him and want to hang out with him, that it detracts from his focus on being a quarterback.

"To be an NFL quarterback, you have to be so obsessed and committed to the game that you almost have no time in your life for anything but a little bit of family, and the rest of it is being a quarterback."
