The Los Angeles Rams have selected tight end Gerald Everett out of South Alabama with the 44th pick of the 2017 NFL Draft.
It's the Rams' first selection of the draft after they traded away their first-round pick to move up for Jared Goff a year ago.
The Rams added Robert Woods in free agency and still have Tavon Austin under contract, but they need to add receiving weapons for Goff. Everett can help with that.
Gerald Everett Bio
Position: TE
School: South Alabama
College Experience: RS Senior
Height: 6-3
Weight: 239 lbs.
Strengths
- Great athlete who can be deployed as a receiver all over the field.
- Size will be difficult for defensive backs to combat, while linebackers will have trouble matching his speed and quickness.
- Willing and aggressive blocker.
Weaknesses
- May need to add strength to contribute even semi-regularly on the line of scrimmage.
- Will be making a significant transition to the professional level, as college production came against lower-level competition.
