Report: Bills scouts worried about job security after draft

Thursday night may mark the beginning of the end for the Buffalo Bills' current scouting staff.

The first round of the NFL Draft takes place Thursday night, with the latter six rounds conducted over the next two days. The team's scouting personnel are bracing for widespread changes after it concludes, a league source told Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

"We are all getting fired next week," one scout reportedly said.

Buffalo cut loose head coach Rex Ryan and assistant head coach Rob Ryan with one game remaining in the 2016 season. Offensive coordinator (and interim head coach) Anthony Lynn became Los Angeles Chargers head coach and defensive coordinator Dennis Thurman was dismissed in January.

Despite sweeping changes to the previous regime, general manager Doug Whaley remains with the Bills and will oversee this year's draft. His job security remains a point of contention for fans and team staff alike.

The Bills responded to Florio's report with a statement: "Right now, our focus is on the preparation for this week's draft. Like every year, evaluations of our player personnel staff take place following the draft. And this year will be no different."
