Bradford not dwelling on uncertain future entering final year of contract
Sam Bradford is determined not to let uncertainty affect his play this upcoming season.
The 29-year-old is entering the final year of a two-year contract that he signed with the Philadelphia Eagles before being traded to the Minnesota Vikings last September. He started in 15 games last season, throwing for 3,877 yards and 20 touchdowns with an NFL-record completion percentage of 71.6.
Bradford is expected to remain the starter, with Teddy Bridgewater still recovering from a knee injury. He told the media on Tuesday that his agent is not currently negotiating an extension with the Vikings and that he isn't looking past this season.
"Honestly, I try not to think about it too much just because I don't have a whole lot of control over it," Bradford said, according to Matt Vensel of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. "I come in here every day, trying to get better and be the best teammate and best quarterback I can be. And I think that's all I can really do."
If Minnesota is looking to find an alternative at quarterback in the 2017 draft, they will have to do so without a first-round pick. The Vikings traded the pick (which turned out to be No. 14) to the Eagles as part of the Bradford deal.
